Mixed Media Coping Cards with the Seven Grandfather Teachings
Mixed Media Coping Cards with the Seven Grandfather Teachings with Sonya Procter — Queer, Métis, BA, MA (candidate), Art Therapy Intern (ATI), Play Therapy Practitioner & CATA Board Member.
️Friday, September 25, 2026 - Online via Zoom4:00-6:00 pm PT / 7:00-9:00 pm ET
Join us for an evening of creating Mixed Media Coping Cards with the Seven Grandfather Teachings. Together we'll make art to ground you in moments that ask for strength.
The cards are designed to support someone moving into, or out of a difficult moment: a way of reminding the self of its own strength, engaging the nervous system through bilateral stimulation, and drawing on the Seven Grandfather Teachings as anchors of strength and guidance.
We'll connect with Sonya, each other and ourselves through the workshop and share together in ceremony and community.
This workshop is part of CATA's ongoing commitment to reconciliation and anti-oppressive practice, and honouring Indigenous knowledge in art therapy practice.
Open to all, free to attend, registration required. Please register here.
As a Métis, queer, and differently abled practitioner, Sonya brings deep personal and professional understanding to her practice. Sonya lives as a guest on Traditional Blackfoot Territory and Métis Region. Sonya weaves the Seven Grandfather Teachings and the Medicine Wheel into the mixed media art, with themes of psychological wellness and Indigenous identity.
